Simon has been the CEO of SAESL, a Joint Venture between SIAEC and Rolls-Royce, since September 2019, leading a team of 1,500 people as the largest Trent engine overhaul and repair centre in the Rolls-Royce MRO network, capable of over 300 shop visits per year.
Prior to joining SAESL, Simon worked for Rolls-Royce for 19 years in its aerospace and marine businesses; he was previously SVP – Overhaul Services accountable for the development and execution of the Civil overhaul network, and Director of Assembly and Test leading all new Trent engine build and MRO activity across three sites in Derby and London Heathrow.
With a 1st class degree in Physics from Warwick University, Simon joined Rolls-Royce in 2000 and spent his early career in planning, supply chain and operations roles. He was part of the team that set up RR’s first in-region supply chain management capability in South East Asia, living in Taiwan and Singapore, before returning to the UK to run high-technology Blisk manufacturing plants.
From 2011-2015 Simon firstly led the commercial, operational and new factory build activities of its Marine business in Brazil. He subsequently progressed to be SVP Business Development and Strategy for the Marine Operations business, defining and executing the manufacturing and supply chain strategy across 28 sites around the world, working extensively across the Nordics and Asia.
He is an alumnus of the Global Leadership Programme at Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, and resides in Singapore with his wife and son.
