Mr. Chee Yaw Chek is currently the Vice President of Commercial at DHL Express Singapore, where he is responsible for driving business growth through the managing of Sales, Marketing and Research for DHL in Singapore. With his broad experience in logistics management (including air and ocean freight, inventory management, supply chain management, port management and warehousing and distribution), he has introduced a wider range of Express products and digitalized customer processes in his current role which he has helmed since July 2018.

Chek is also well practiced in management consulting and e-business, and speaks on topics related to business growth, trade and internationalization and sustainability. Chek first joined DHL Express in 2006 where he held various positions in Commercial and General Management in Asia, namely Hong Kong and Taiwan, before joining the Singapore office in 2018.

Prior to joining DHL, Chek spent four years as the General Manager of IDS Logistics International, a member of the Li and Fung Group of Companies, where he directly managed the inventory management department besides designing and implementing the supply chains of regional customers. Under his leadership, the company won the coveted “SCM Logistics Excellence Awards 2005”. He was also previously a Senior Associate at McKinsey & Company. As a founding member of its Southeast Asian business building practice, Chek advised leading Asian businesses on their growth strategies. He started his career in the maritime industry with Jurong Port, where he oversaw the engineering and operations of three ocean terminals in Singapore and helped to set up one of the largest cement terminals in the world.

Chek received his Master of Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology – MIT Sloan School of Management and Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Singapore.
